Sporen van Wekerom – Wim Hol
Editorial design, illustration & project management
The Brief
Author Wim Hol wanted to independently publish Sporen van Wekerom, a richly detailed book about the history of his hometown. He was looking for a designer who could handle the visual concept and guide the full production process.
My Role
I managed everything after the manuscript was finalized. My responsibilities included the editorial design, cover illustration, planning, communication with printers and suppliers, and ensuring a smooth production timeline. I also advised the client on visual choices and publication strategy.
Process & Skills
I developed the visual identity of the book, including a photorealistic, AI-enhanced artist impression for the cover, based on the author’s description of 11th-century Wekerom. I designed the entire 372-page layout in Adobe InDesign, created custom illustrations, and coordinated stakeholder communication.

The Result
A high-quality, 372-page book now available in bookstores, with an initial print run of 600 copies. Delivered exactly on schedule thanks to a clear process and structured planning. The project was a close and enjoyable collaboration, resulting in a publication that the author—and I—are proud of.

The Brief
AEGIR Marine, a family-owned maritime company, wanted a family statute that went beyond the formal. The aim: a publication that reflects the company’s values, history, and identity.
My Role
I handled the full editorial design and illustration. From concept to completion, I guided the visual direction, involved the client in design decisions, and created all artwork.
Process & Skills
I built a 136-page layout in Adobe InDesign and illustrated key elements, including the recurring elephant motif. The tone is structured yet personal — aligning legal form with visual storytelling.

192nd Almanak – G.S.C. Vindicat atque Polit
Editorial design, teamwork, print production, large-scale file management
The Brief
For the 192nd edition of Vindicat’s yearbook, the student association needed a full editorial concept and production for a 688-page publication with a print run of 3,000 copies.
My Role
As lead designer and illustrator, I worked closely with a team of eight. I created the cover and all illustrations, and co-developed the layout and production plan.
Process & Skills
I managed high-volume editorial work in InDesign, learned how to handle large files, print specs, and worked directly with the printer. The project also involved budgeting and internal communication.

The Result
A visually dynamic yearbook, delivered on time and on budget, with strong visual consistency and professional finish.

Zwona’s levensverhaal

The Brief
Commissioned by two sons as a tribute to their mother, this personal book was meant to document her life story in a warm, accessible way.
My Role
I handled the full editorial design and visual storytelling. I worked closely with the author to bring the story to life through thoughtful layouts and image placement.

I combined photos, interviews, and memories into a clear, flowing design. I paid close attention to typography and image sequencing to support the emotional tone of the narrative.

Internship (6 months) - Marie-Stella-Maris
Campaign design, layout, POS & packaging, Adobe Creative Suite, team collaboration.
The Brief
During my internship at Marie-Stella-Maris, I joined the in-house design team to help maintain and expand the brand across campaigns, product launches, and communication channels.
My Role
As a graphic designer, I worked on POS materials (flyers, posters, shelf cards), social media visuals, online banners, internal sales decks, and product mockups. I also assisted with photo editing, presentation design, and coordinated with the team on production-ready files for both print and digital.
Process & Skills
I worked in a fast-paced environment with tight brand guidelines. I improved my skills in brand consistency, preparing print files, layout design, and visual storytelling for both online and offline channels. I also gained experience in marketing and campaign strategy from within a professional team setting.

Digital Advent Calendar – Use/space

The Brief
Use/space wanted a playful, digital advent campaign where each day revealed a piece of festive content.
My Role
I developed the full concept, designed the visuals, and animated each day’s “door.” I also coordinated directly with the client to align content, tone, and timing.
Process & Skills
I created 24 unique animations in Adobe After Effects and Illustrator. This project challenged me to learn motion design from scratch and translate a static brand identity into dynamic, daily visuals. I managed content planning, feedback, and delivery throughout the month.

For the updated edition of the e-book De Best Value-aanpak, I was asked to design all supporting illustrations and a clear, accessible infographic to help explain the methodology to both suppliers and clients.
My Role
I created custom vector illustrations and developed a full-page infographic that distills the core of the Best Value Procurement process. I also managed communication and deadlines closely with the client.

The Brief
I regularly create custom illustrations for friends, family, and personal commissions — from pet portraits to gifts and prints.
My Role
I take on the full process: concept sketching, digital illustration, vector refinement, and delivery of print- or screen-ready files.
Process & Skills
My illustration style is graphic, clean, and character-driven. I often work with vector-based techniques in Illustrator, layering form and contrast for depth and expression. I use photo references and adapt my style per request.

Mutsaerts Communication – SPOT-study & Levensletters

The Brief
In collaboration with Mutsaerts Communication, I worked on two very different but equally purpose-driven projects: the SPOT-study (a medical research project by UMC Utrecht) and Levensletters (a personal storytelling initiative).
My Role
I designed all visual materials — from custom illustrations and PowerPoint presentations to flyers, branded templates, and identity elements. Each project required a tailored visual approach based on audience, tone, and content.
Process & Skills
For SPOT, I created clear and accessible visuals to support scientific communication. For Levensletters, I developed a gentle and emotional visual language focused on reflection and legacy. I worked independently and in close consultation with both the agency and their clients.
